NCC Education Establishes Accredited Centre in Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information, NCC Education

Join Hands to Offer International Degree Programs

The inauguration ceremony of the NCC Education Accredited Partner was held at the Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information in Guangdong Province on 15 May 2005. Leaders from Guangdong Provincial Ministry of Information Industry, Foshan Municipal Government and Nanhai District Government attended the ceremony. At the ceremony, Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information was authorized as a partner center of NCC Education. The Institute will offer one of the NCC Education’s most popular programs, International Degree Pathway in IT, in China starting from this year. This event is another important achievement for Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information in the field of international cooperation, following the agreement for the mutual recognition of credit signed earlier this year with Swinburne University of Technology. These arrangements will effectively integrate domestic IT education standard with those of the world and build a green pathway through which Chinese students can achieve internationally recognized degrees.

Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information caters to the training of IT professionals; it was founded by Neusoft Group Ltd., a leading software company in China that offers degree education, vocational training and e-Learning services to the IT industry. NCC Education, a leading global supplier of education and assessment solutions, was established in 1966 by the British government with the aim at developing the IT skills of the British population. NCC Education, impressed by the strong industry background and the vision that Neusoft Institute of Information owns in terms of IT education during an inspection trip to Neusoft, decided this cooperation with Neusoft and will provide the latter with platforms and resources for overseas education, materials, training of teachers, teaching quality supervision and NCC Education global unified examination.

Jack Noble, an external evaluator of NCC Education in Guangdong, attended the ceremony and made the following introduction: “NCC Education has 350 partner centres in over 45 countries and regions in the world, including 9 accredited centers like Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information in China. Certificates awarded by NCC Education are recognized by dozens of universities overseas and students may apply directly to study their degree courses. It is a certificate issuing organization authenticated by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). All of its programs offered in collaboration with British universities have been approved by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). Further more, it has won authentication from the ISO9000 quality standards system. We maintain strict control over the teaching quality of all NCC Education accredited centers through our quality system, external evaluator network and academic committee, ensuring that the credentials awarded by our partner centres in different countries have the same value.

Dr. Yang Li, the president of Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information, stated during the ceremony that the successful cooperation with the internationally well-known educational organization, NCC Education, indicates that the education concepts, education system and teaching quality of Neusoft have been recognized by its counterparts abroad. This is undoubtedly a great impetus to Neusoft in the field of IT education, representing a big leap forward for the internationalization progress of the company’s IT education business.

As introduced by President Yang Li, Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information currently offers two modes for overseas study. One is through mutual recognition of credit with overseas universities, for example, the cooperation with Swinburne University of Technology in Australia. Under this mode, students who have finished their studies at the Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information with satisfied credits may go on for another year at the Swinburne University of Technology and obtain an international undergraduate degree. The other mode is through studying international diploma courses provided by NCC at the Neusoft Institute of Information for three years, after which one would receive an international diploma. Students may then apply to study another year at any of the specified universities in British or other countries, then receiving an undergraduate diploma from that university.

International Degree Pathway
Students may study at the Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information and then take an advanced program at an overseas university. The program consists of three relatively independent but interrelated stages. A certificate is awarded on successful completion at each stage. An “advanced diploma”, equal to junior college diploma in China, is given upon completion of three-year study with satisfied scores. Students holding an advanced diploma may apply to a top-up degree course at a NCC Education partner centre.

Note:
1+3: Students may, after obtaining an IFY Certificate, apply to a first-year diploma course at an overseas university; or
2+2: Students may, after obtaining a NCC Education diploma at the Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information, apply to a second-year diploma course at an overseas university; or
3+1: Students may, after obtaining a NCC Education advanced diploma at the Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information, apply to a top-up degree course at an overseas university.

International Foundation Year (IFY)
Because of the differences between Chinese and British educational systems, high school graduates from China usually need to study one year’s preparatory courses before studying for a British bachelor’s degree.

Aims of opening NCC Education’s IFY courses at the Nanhai Neusoft Institute of Information:
- To improve the students’ English level and prepare them for their first year’s study abroad;
- To develop students’ learning ability, so that their success comes from their professional abilities, instead of their language levels;
- To lay a solid foundation for students to continue learning professional knowledge in the future;
- To show students aspects of their future work society and culture before their employment, so that they have abundant confidence and the ability to become part of it.

Students have the following options after obtaining an IFY certificate:
- To take an undergraduate program at one of sixteen famous overseas universities; or
- To study an international diploma in computer or business administration of NCC Education in China or abroad.
